Those in the New York area this summer will have the opportunity to see several brand new Magnolia Editions publications by Chuck Close at Guild Hall in East Hampton:
In our showcase exhibition of the summer season, we will present recent paintings, prints and tapestries by Chuck Close. Close is noted for his highly inventive techniques used to paint the human face [...] His first retrospective was in 1981 at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and his work is found in numerous museum and private collections worldwide. Chuck Close was the recipient of the 1995 Guild Hall Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award Winner in the Visual Arts. He had a one person exhibition of his large-scale Polaroid photographs, "Chuck Close Up Close" at Guild Hall in 1991. He has been a part-time resident of the East End for more than 40 years.This show, on view from August 10 through October 14, 2013, will kick off with a Summer Gala to benefit Guild Hall on August 9:
