Chuck Close opening Thursday, 4/30

We are pleased to announce a Chuck Close show opening this week at PaceWildenstein in New York, featuring several tapestry editions published by Magnolia Editions:

Chuck Close: Paintings and Tapestries from 2005-2009

May 1 - June 20, 2009

Opening reception this Thursday, April 30th, from 6-8 pm.


In addition to seven oil on canvas paintings, including two portraits of artist Zhang Huan, the show will feature tapestry portraits of Brad Pitt, Ellen Gallagher, Philip Glass, Lyle Ashton Harris, Andres Serrano, Cindy Sherman, Lorna Simpson and two woven self-portraits, one of which is a 15-foot horizontal work featuring five consecutive views of Close. An exhibition catalog with essay by Lilly Wei accompanies the show.

Magnolia Editions' Donald and Era Farnsworth will attend the opening reception. We hope you will be able to join us!

Donald Farnsworth at the McCune Collection: Sunday, 4/26

This Sunday, April 26 at 2:00 pm, Donald Farnsworth of Magnolia Editions will give a free lecture at the McCune Collection.

The McCune Collection is an excellent collection of rare and unique books, manuscripts, printing equipment and binding tools. It is free to the public and hands-on: visitors are encouraged to hold in their hands "original 15th Century French Illuminated manuscripts, original leaves from early Chaucer books (1551 and 1561) or original leaves from early printings of Shakespeare's plays (1623, 1632, 1663, and 1685)... books designed by Bruce Rogers or Mallette Dean... illustrations by Valenti Angelo, Mary Grabhorn, John Henry Nash, Henry Evans, and others... fine printing, handmade paper, fine binding, and exquisite illustrations."

Mr. Farnsworth's talk will include images and short movies. Please join us for a peek at the latest inventions and innovations from Magnolia.
